There is someone who has not made a cameo on the blog in a while! Yesterday Le Boy and I went and got some ice cream to cool in the 80 + degree weather her in LA. I got a simple vanilla ice cream cone while he opted for a Oreo Blizzard. You can't go wrong with DQ!

The funny thing about these jeans are that they are literally boyfriend jeans BUT not in the way you think. I thrifted these jeans almost a year ago because I was really into the style. A few days later him and I are together and he sees the jeans laying around my room and goes "Did I leave my jeans here?" And fresh off my thrifting high I give that a laugh and say no those are mine. It turns out he has the exact pair of jeans. Since then whenever I wear these jeans we get an instant laugh. He's since grown out of his so we haven't had any mix ups. The dork in me wishes he still had them to have a corny moment of wearing the same pants (which we did accidentally in high school when maroon skinnies were popular for both guys and girls).

This is the result of having your boyfriend's clothes stored drawers away from your own. Taking this as a right of access I threw on an old baseball shirt of his and made it my own. This isn't the first time I've done this (click here for instant nostalgia).

In true Roses are Red fashion a pair of jeans and sneakers wouldn't do. Enter the cargo pants and a pair of heels. Cue an constant need to purchase new items and thats were the baseball cap comes in. To be honest it was a must so the look wasn't all out of whack.

As I have said before I am not a cap/hat person but it is always fun to play around in a field you have never played in before... (I was going for some kind of cool saying or phrase there so please excuse if that didn't translate). Anywho, hats may grow on me so a method to hold down this mane must be created so they can be worn from time to time.

This week was spring break so I set out to do a few things school has stopped me from doing. So this past Thursday Le Boy and I went to the beach. We had brunch at a cafe I have been dying to get him to for sometime now. Then we walked down to the boardwalk and watched the waves and birds. It wasn't the sunniest day (hince me doning a coat and expecting to sport the cut out tank) but it was a beautiful day and so much fun.

I'm embracing spring with a bit of white and very light colors. Its taking some getting use to because I live and love in the color black. We shall see if this continues.

I have been waiting to wear this skirt out for weeks now. I ordered it online around the time of my hologram trend prediction post. Its a pretty bold piece but I couldn't help but take on that challenge after falling in love with the dramatic slit (another trend I am loving). Plus this skirt is something unlike anything I have in my closet.

My goal for this year style-wise is to work with the niche i've finally figured out. I like mixing sophisticated/dressy items with casual/comfy/boyish pieces. It took me about 4 years of blogging to figure it out and weed through trying to emulate other bloggers to come to this conclusion. And I like it! Oh I am also working on finding a balance between scowling and laughing in photos. If you have been around Roses are Red for a while you would have noticed its always one or the other. Extreme right?! Well I seem to have gotten it together and embraced the smirk you see in these photos. I like it and it definitely makes editing photos much more pleasant.

Anywho, back to the outfit. I love skirt and the holographic effect. I decided to style it with a simple tank. I wanted to work with my new claimed aesthetic so I added these Timberland boots. Purchasing these boots weren't my idea at all. I actually disliked the fact that these shoes were becoming popular among women. But after trying them on in this color I walked out the store with them. Also if you know my blog you can guess who was responsible for this purchase. Yes, Le Boy. I admitted to him the other day that I'm glad he convinced me to get them because I wear them 4 out of 7 days of the week.

Long time no blog? Well I actually have a back up post but never felt like posting them. This is due to me wanting to be present and aware after posting. I have been all about pulling myself out of productivity funk. But I think I am out of it!

Anywho, this out was so fun for me because it fits two of my favorite things --- dramatice pieces and the color black. This skirt (which I temporarily hemmed myself was so much fun to walk around it all day. It has all the girly attributes without the commitment of color.

These shots are courtesy of Le Boyfriend. The think I like about having him as a camera guy is his direction. He has a very creative mind so he adds extra input to where and how I should sit/stand. Its always nice not having to think about it so much and just play model lol.

P.S. the mirror shot was not planned he took that while I was getting ready. Thanks baby! (he reads my blog from time to time).

Hey guys,

This is something I throw on after panicking about what I was going to wear today. The BF and I had to scurry and get some shots after a day filled with Marine Biology Lecture and Lab. We had to work around the shadow but luckily we were able to pull it off!

So in honor of Labor Day my roommates and I headed out to the beach to get some sun and play in the water (but not before being warned of "sand animals" and shallow dweling jellyfish on a quick phone call with Le Boyfriend). Little did we know when we arrived the beach would be flooded with tens of people and their families.

Although the beach was crowded we ended up enjoying some boogie boarding and drinks in the sand. The drinks are actually by a brand is called Coco Breve. They make these amazing alcohol-infused coconut waters. One I enjoy in particular is the Mango Citrus because of my taste for fruity flavors.

Hopefully your day off was fun and you were able to spend it surrounded by friends.

This little beauty is the newest addition the my lipstick collection. Its also a birthday present from the BF. After waiting for an order of "Tender Peach" and a having that order canceled because of the wait we went out to retrieve it ourselves. When we got to Sephora the color I wanted wasn't in stock (the reason for the order). But I caved in after apply this beauty and left with my first YSL Lippy. What do you think?

Arm Candy!

Hello! As you can see I am trying something new with the size of my photos and I really hope you like. This post was planned for yesterday but the BF came over after work and kept me out of the house all day. But alas here it is and I as I said before I am embracing the bright colors spring/summer demands. And its pretty fun to take a break from my black wardrobe pieces.

This skirt is something bought a year or so ago and now I am falling in love love with it again. The color picks me right up and the length is super flirty. To balance the look from being so girly I un-tucked my shirt a bit. Its still my favorite style tweak.
