Creativity is subjective. Being around other like minded writers for 5 + years — i'm including the brief time in 12th grade when I was dedicated to the Yearbook Club — I've found that everyone isn't required to love my ideas. It took me some time to be okay with this because I'm horrible with constructive criticism. 

Allen (aka the boyfriend) plays a big part in the content I create both here and on YouTube. And since we're both passionate creatives we tend to butt heads.

He takes most of my photos for the blog. He likes to shoot they way he feels will work and make me look good. This is followed by my complaints about the choice of angles and other little details. Not because I hate his point of view. Actually, I value his opinion more than anyone else's. He's happens to be a very talented song-writer and the way he thinks is close to if not genius. It's more of a aesthetic issue.

While shooting from below works for 5 Inch and Up  and My Eyes Are Hungry. It's just not how I structure my photos. It's also not my most flattering angle lol. 

The day we took these he summed up our creative clash with a few simple words, "You got to let people do what they want." If you want the job done sometimes you gotta let people show you how they want things. And although this may not stick and we'll be back to the same routine soon, we both understand one thing.... In the end I am ALWAYS right.

...Or at least that how I took it!

As cliche as it may sound, Breakfast at Tiffany's is my favorite classic movie. But cliche be damned, I have a genuine attraction her whimsical, carefree mystery. 

This up do and wondering vibe I had while shooting this look gave my heavy Holly Golightly vibes. As someone who has been watching the classic since before she could multiply and carry the two (I saw and fell in love with Singing In The Rain in Kindergarten) this is a cool feeling. 

This eShakti jumpsuit I customized is something I feel Audrey Hepburn's infamous character would wear window shopping (or a quick trip Sing-Sing. I don't judge). I was able make it one of a kind by choosing the neckline, adjusting to my measurement and my favorite part...making it sleeveless. 

While the floral print is pretty sophisticated, the jumpsuit design brings it back down to earth — much like Holly. I believe she would have worn it zipped up with a batch of pearls but I went for zipped down and belted at the waist.  We can call the cat ears a nod to the stolen mask scene from the film. This whole look is a mixture of a classic that I love so well. No "mean reds" here. Just a lot of beautiful blue.

This top is a new acquisition and might I say "Got damn!"  No seriously I really love this top. It's actually against my rule of not buying uber trendy things. The whole maxi shirt-side slit is everywhere at the moment which made it an automatic turn off. But while shopping recently I saw this on a mannequin and reconsidered. The knit fabric and turtleneck are aspects missing from the tops floating around Instagram. 

It has this sophisticated feel with the little bit of edge that i'm addicted to. Which brings me to the change in the look of the blog. 

I have been trying for sometime to formulate a solid theme for Roses are Red. I went through several things that make up who I am -- style and personality wise. This blog thrives on the juxtaposition of clean and messy. Just about every outfit has included a high-low feel and I think that says it all.  

From here on out posts will include Roses (the simple/sophisticated) and Violets (the edge/messy) elements.  Let's see how it goes.

Flats-to-go that take up no space in my bag and are honestly as comfy as fluffy socks.

Winter has somehow become my favorite season. I've grown to love the white hues and softer fabrics that come with the colder months. Although it's not winter just yet I'm anticipating cozy weather and a warmer wardrobe change. 

It's actually the time when my love of tights and socks really comes out. How else am I going to maintain my love for thigh length shorts and skirts? Knee high socks are my trick to not looking like a scene from Pretty Woman.

Since it's about time to hang up the tank tops here in LA I was pleased when the brand Kushyfoot sent over some of their footwear pieces. I instantly fell for the knee highs. I was happy to add their perfectly opaque knee highs to my collection of tights. Not to mention quiet the sexy pair with a fishnet design.

Each of the items feature a comfortable sole. It's all the padding without the constant adjusting of an individual sole. My love for a good flat was elevated by the extra padding in their low cut foot covers (found here). And with the holidays coming around I'll be putting the shape wear to the test à la food vs shaping tights!

Okay, so that's a lie. You can totally sit with us. Amblet is totally approachable. If you follow any of my social media you know who this girl. This is Amber and if you are not following her blog I think it's time to change this. Amber is a fellow black clothing addict and Drake Enthusiast (a separate interest but the girl is committed). We meet about a year ago at a Song of Style event and have been glued to each other through twitter and Instagram since. We finally got to meet up and spent the day in Fullerton (her neck of the woods) for some shopping and some food.

It may not seem like it from the scowls and cool girl poses but this day was filled with an obscene amount of laughs and girl talk. 2.5 seconds into my visit I picked up this backpack with some encourage from my girl. The sign of a dangerous but needed shopping buddy seeing as how I tend to second guess my purchases.  After walking a bit we settle at a little place called Kentro Greek Kitchen that she suggested. Let's just say I could definitely take spontaneous trips to Downtown Fullerton just for the fries they serve at that place.  

It was nice to spend the day with another blogger. Someone who thinks the way I do, is just as obsessed with IG as I am and knows who I am talking about when I mention someone by their url instead a birth given name. Amber is so chill, yet has so much energy which matches her personal style very well. To make a long story short... you have not seen the last of Amblet.
