Button up: XXI - Pants: H&M - Shoes: XXI - Watch: Gifted

There is something about a collared shirt that gives a me an androgynous high. I start putting an outfit together and it will take a total turn with just the snap of that top button. And as weird as this may sounds, it comes with a sort of gentleman's swagger (yes, I hate that word too). I walk a bit stronger/taller and my hair hair style of choice is more than likely slicked back. I tend to mean mug or have PBF (permanent bitch face) all day. I have this feeling of no one can stop me and if they try they picked the wrong day/outfit to try.

I find it fun to role play with style and this is my favorite type of transformation. I've taken on the a masculine edge in previous posts (here) and I think I want to do it more. What are your style role play favorites? Goth? Preppy? Minimalist?

I wanted to start a little segment about my musical obsessions. The music a person listens can tell you a lot about them. So in order to share a bit more I figure I every now-and-then I'd let you in on the what's on my personal playlist at the moment and maybe even give you some new stuff to listen to. So apparently I was in the New York Times today. Yeah, the Thursday Style section front page is plastered with the bubbly smile of my friend Gabby and my non intentional over-the-shoulder bitch face. I'm actually just happy I don't look bewildered or painfully awkward.

I could only grab one copy by the time I was able to get to a Starbucks but I'll settle for one. Luckily my family has taken it upon themselves to go out a grab any and every copy. This is the coolest thing. Excuse while I go squeal until I lose my voice.  

Jacket: Gifted and Thrifted - Tank: H&M - Shoes: LB Boutique

When I say this jacket has been sitting in my closet for I while I'm putting emphasis on a WHILE. The reason it has found such a stagnate state in wardrobe is my quest to style it. About a year ago my aunt was thinking about me while out shopping one day and picked it up. She sent the jacket to all the way from Mississippi. 

Not only do I love gifts that have traveled to make it's way to me (this can also be linked to the joy I get from free shipping alerts) I also love when they are bought as a representation of me. According to this buy the jacket sums up my electric style. From a far she has gotten a sense of who I am. I love that!

But it has stared me the face EVERY MORNING since I got it. I wasn't able to figure it out until  this particular mother. And I can't believe I never looked at it and thought of a simple tank and a lot of white to let the jacket stand out. Needless to say I feel victorious!

Skirt: H&M - Shoes: H&M - Backpack: Thrifted - Necklace: [will update]

This gym shirt-full skirt combo was an accident. I was changing into the skirt and still had the top on from sleeping in it and mid swap the combo looked nice to me (btw I hadn't worked out in the shirt prior that would be gross). But it was more than nice... it was familiar. For a quick second I remembered what inspired me about clothing and how it felt to get dressed before I lost my lust. It was those clean/serious looks with a little bit of mess that - and i say this in my best Tim Gun voice - made it work. 

I guess I had been trying to find my way back by trying to put together looks I imagined would look great yet relevant. On top of that hopping into a pair of heels was like a hellish fever dream due to a new mentally tiring life schedule. The struggle became trend over comfort and it took a hasty morning routine pajama change to realize my comfort comes from being a bit off. It was never the idea of my shoes hurting or having enough time to get dressed before work. 

From here on out I've got to keep in mind that my style is kinda like a mullet.... business in the front party in the back!
